KiPS Group can help you overcome areas where many companies fall short when implementing automated testing:
- Company/Department strategy - a lack of a Certify implementation strategy is not uncommon. A test automation tool is not always viewed with the same degree of management requirements as a software development tool. If an implementation strategy is not defined all the users tend to go in their own direction which prevents or impedes the best possible on investment.
Since testing is sometimes considered a task that anyone can do there is not always good management around the testing activities. This lack of management usually leads to duplication of work, test coverage less than desired, and a high risk of defects found after software is moved to production.
Can you image a company letting one person decide when an application is approved to go to production? The strategy requires input on what should be tested from multiple departments and possibly customers/end users.
KiPS Group will work closely with you to develop the best implementation strategy possible. - Test Managers/Testers usually have not had the advantage of a development tool for testing. Normally, a Word or Excel document is used to detail the steps for a test. Reporting of results from tests is done in meetings or emails and compiled in a report with little or no detailed execution results provided. The individual tester reports that a test passed or failed but the procedures or detailed steps to accomplish the validation are usually not available. In some companies the business owner may request documentation and some businesses are mandated by law to retain this documentation.
KiPS Group can help develop detailed reporting to validate internal standards, industry standards, and regulatory compliance where needed. - Continuity of Certify knowledge testing positions are sometimes at a lower level than other positions in a company. This creates a situation in which individuals in a testing position may seek higher level positions in an organization. The constant turnover in a testing group can lead to the knowledge of the automation tool being drastically altered. Even with an easy-to-use automation tool the constant fluctuation can add stress to both the implementation strategy and the people managing the implementation. If not managed closely, the fluctuation over time can render the tool and the assets basically unusable.
- Desire to be more than a tester movement of employees in most companies may be from one department to another but in a company where an Enterprise Resource System (ERP) is utilized, system knowledgeable/trained individuals may choose to leave the company altogether. This can add to the fluctuation of Certify skilled personnel.
